Kevin Makarewicz – 830, 9th in Points, Thriller Division |
||
KMac Stats |
KMac – wanted to spend a little more time with the family in 2007 – so he planned on only running only a half a season. The weeks that the 830 Camaro did hit the asphalt – it was fast, really fast but KMac took his fair share of bumps and wall crunching action. When the car stuck, it stuck but when the Gunk hit – he hit hard!! Can you have two Number 1 bad hits?? The Mac Brothers can!! The first worst hit – came when Kevin put the 830 head first into the turn one wall, after squashed all the way down the front stretch wall. The second first worst hit - was the metal crunching, front end ripping, hard hitting accident during the King Of The Mountain finale. And that was just in the heat race and ended the 830’s day and season. |

Marissa Nelmes – 2am, 7th in Points, Thriller Division |
||
Merr Stats |
The end of the 2006 season saw Marissa destroyed her Monte Carlo Thriller. It was up in the air whether she would race at all in the 2007 season but JMac put together a killer Camaro Thriller ride and Merr could not turn down the chance to drive again. She was now pumped and ready to race. While out for an easy Sunday drive – just breaking in the new motor – she did just that – “she broke the new motor.” Something in the motor let lose and it blow up. We call this “Oil Pan Failure” – The oil pan failed to hold the engine parts that were exploding. So like any true racer we had another motor built and back to the track she went. While in the middle of a feature race, with five laps to go, again something let lose in the motor and she blew up again. To say the least- I was getting a little upset and wanted answers. We think it lead back to the distributor, the timing was advancing way too far and the stock motor just couldn't handle it. But we all know what it really lead back – to one little hairy butt picking Gunk Gunk!! We were half way through the season and the famous "Duct Tape 50" was next on the schedule, Marissa wanted to race for Dad. No engine, no money and no time – it was not looking good. But out of the blue – the team gets a phone call from the track owner and he offers us a motor so Marissa can make the race. We accepted and we raced. |

Jeff Owler – 98, 4th in Points, Thriller Division |
||
Junk Yard Stats |
Jeff Owler’s 98 rebuilt Camaro was ready to rock and roll for the 2007 Mountain Racing Season. Scheduled to run the full season, the Junk Yard Dog was a best chance to put a Mac Brother Member into that Victory Lane. Every week the 98 car was getting faster (or was it the driver) and every week we would get a little closer to that checkered flag. We continuously made slight changes to the 98 looking for the prefect set up but sometimes we made it worse. The Junk was fast and had the 98 in the lead for 52 and 7/8's of a lap for the season. The one feature saw Junk Yard leading every lap – right down to the last 20 feet when Gunk Gunk – pulled out his Fred Flintstone brakes and slowed the 98 just enough to let the 2 nd place driver win the race. Once again – at the King Of The Mountain – the finale concluded with a season ending crash and a bent frame that was not fixable. |
